Recorded March 8th 2020 at the San Francisco Musicians' Union Hall. Compositions and territorial arrangements by Dave Mihaly (drums and guitar) with the expert and adept input of fellow musicians Lin Shi (piano and percussion),  Patrick Byers (baritone saxophone and flute), and Charith Premawardhana (viola and violin). Three new versions of songs previously documented  on other Mihaly recordings ('Merce' from 'Eastern Accents in the Far West', 'T'a'i from 'Euro and Solo', and 'Rome' from 'the Ali Suite'), and four new ones ('Aveiro Mosaics', 'Internet Blues', '9th street dub', and 'Regarding untamed spirits'.....this recording is the first time this quartet played together, in the sequence of the concert. The energy of this show was very raw, and telepathic. A mercurial show.  Pantonality, blues, intimations of China , Portugal, New York, and the western outpost of San Francisco on the precipice of the corona pandemic. Fully realized. Funky. Empathetic. Bold. Please have a listen to this. Dave Mihaly and the Shore. 'Regarding Untamed Spirits' . Recorded by Lin Shi with the aid of Jon Karr and some sonic post production. No added frills or ingredients. Beautiful, compostional, improvisational.......every musician doubles on two instruments, giving this quartet the dual nature of a shadow octet.
